Tuesday Tidbits: LAST MEAL

Labor Day~A public holiday or day of festivities held in honor of working people, in the US and Canada on the first Monday in September, in many other countries on May 1.

You’re probably wondering why I’m talking about Labor Day the day after with a title of “LAST MEAL”.

Labor Day holds a special place in my heart. When I was young, Labor Day signified the beginning of the labor of school beginning for another year. Ugh.

But for more than thirty years now, it represents going into labor with my first child. Yep, I went into labor on Labor Day.

I had cooked a flavorful meal of pork chops, potatoes, and gravy. Though a rather simple meal, it tasted delectable. Soon after dinner, my body reversed the process and expelled the meal. Hence—LAST MEAL. Not as good the second time around. =0{

Since I couldn’t stop getting sick and transitioned into dry heaves, my hubby took me to the hospital. They gave me something to stop the convulsing and announced that I was in labor! Gives a new meaning to “labor” day. (And I wasn’t even due for nearly two weeks.) Then they sent me home, because I wasn’t far enough along. Argh!

My son was born at 5:55 pm on a Wednesday. Yep. Two days later. After forty-seven hours, I finally held my precious baby boy in my arms.

He is now expecting his third child in November. His oldest (a girl) will turn six this month and number two (also a girl) will be two and a half when their baby brother is born.

I am so proud of him. He's a great daddy!

And every Labor Day I smile.
