Tuesday TIdbits: BOTHEL MUSEUM part 5

Bothell Museum Part 5: The HANNAN HOME

The Upstairs: Bedrooms & Bathroom

This is the final installment of photographs I took at the Bothell museum. These pictures show the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom of the William Hannan Home built in 1893. It is one of three historic buildings that make up this quaint museum.

WILLIAM HANNAN HOME
1893
This Pioneer Residence was built in 1893 by
Wm. Hannan for his bride Mimi Campbell, daughter of
Robt. and MaryAnn Bothell Campbell. Mr. Hannan who came to
Bothell in 1889, was founder of W.A. Hannan Mercantile
on Bothell's main St. & was Postmaster from 1894-1898
& active in Political & Civic affairs. Each room has been
decorated & restored as close to the
original state as possible.
This mirrorstand sits in the upstairs hallway.
The next group of photos are of the master bedroom. They go around the room clockwise from the doorway. Unlike the downstairs' rooms, the upstairs ones are roped off, so I couldn't get very close to individual pieces to take pictures.

I think both of my grandmas had rocking chairs similar to this one.
I like rocking chairs. I always have ever since I was young. The rhythmic rocking is soothing.

I love this outfit with its hat and parasol to complement it.

Another rocking chair.

This is a beautiful rug.

Do you know what that dark round thing is sitting in the middle of the bed?
For those of you who don't know, think about it, and I'll tell you at the end.

A chamber pot for the cold winter nights
when no one wants to go outside in the dark.
Wait a minute, this house has a bathroom down the hall,
so one wouldn't need one of these.
Maybe the mother is having a bout of morning sickness.

That next group of pictures is the nursery. Again, they go clockwise from the doorway.

This crib looks a lot like my daybed.

That next group of pictures is the bathroom. Pretty posh to have a full bathroom. It was big enough to be a small bedroom. Quite possibly it was originally a bedroom, then converted into a bathroom. So the family might have needed those chamber pots until they got this upgrade. (Clockwise again.)

What is that thing in the middle of the bed?

Answer: A Bed Warmer
People would put hot coals in the bowl and close the lid.
Then they would slide it around between the sheets
to warm them up before crawling into bed.
I love the different wallpapers in this house, both upstairs as well as downstairs.

I hope you all enjoyed this photographic tour of the Bothell Museum. =0)
